Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile was chewed out on Thursday by one of the organization’s staffers for her now-infamous role in the 2016 presidential election.
Anger over Democrat Hillary Clinton’s crushing defeat to Donald Trump boiled over during the DNC’s first staff meeting since Tuesday’s political earthquake. Ms. Brazile, who was forced to resign from CNN after WikiLeaks documents showed her forwarding debate questions to the Clinton campaign, was excoriated by a staffer identified as “Zach.”
“Why should we trust you as chair to lead us through this?” he asked, multiple sources confirmed with the Huffington Post. “You backed a flawed candidate, and your friend [ex-DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz] plotted through this to support your own gain and yourself.”
Like Ms. Brazile, Ms. Wasserman Schultz lost her job due to revelations found within WikiLeaks documents. Hacked DNC emails showed the former DNC head mulling ways to undermine Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign.
“You are part of the problem,” Zach continued, HuffPo reported. “You and your friends will die of old age and I’m going to die from climate change. You and your friends let this happen, which is going to cut 40 years off my life expectancy.”
Ms. Brazile, the DNC’s interim chair until March 2017, told the website that she would not elaborate on the exchange.
“As you can imagine, the individual involved is a member for the staff and I personally do not wish to discuss our internal meetings,” she said via email.
