The FBI has released no evidence linking the Trump campaign to Russia, despite demands from Democrats that the agency be as public about the matter as Director James Comey was last Friday about the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
Mrs. Clinton and her supporters have been on the defensive since Mr. Comey told Congress last week that, in the wake of new evidence, he had reopened the investigation into the Democratic presidential nominee’s handling of top-secret emails while she was secretary of state.
Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook, in an appearance on CNN on Tuesday, said Comey should share what he knows about FBI inquiries into whether Mr. Trump or his advisors have links to Russian attempts to influence the American presidential race.
“If you’re in the business of releasing information about investigations on presidential candidates, release everything you have on Donald Trump. Release the information on his connections to the Russians,” Mr. Mook said.
But both CNN and the New York Times reported in recent days there is no evidence — or at least nothing that investigators are willing to share now — to indicate illegal connections between Russia and the Republican presidential nominee.
“No evidence has emerged that would link [Trump] or anyone else in his business or political circle directly to Russia’s election operations,” The Times reported.
CNN on Tuesday reported the Justice Department and the FBI “haven’t been able to prove” any connection between Russia and WikiLeaks, which has been releasing Clinton campaign emails that Democrats contend were provided by Russian hackers.
