ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Crossbow hunting is allowed beginning this weekend over much of upstate New York.
Crossbow hunting for deer and bear in New York’s southern zone opens Saturday and runs through Nov. 18. Crossbows are being allowed by the state Department of Environmental Conservation during the last two weeks of early bow hunting season.
The southern zone covers areas of the state north of New York City, excluding northern New York.
Crossbows also may be used in New York during the regular seasons and late muzzleloader seasons.
