Republican presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz on Tuesday blamed the executives at Fox News for undermining his campaign, saying they had tuned the cable TV news channel into the “Donald Trump Network.”

“Network executives have made a decision to get behind Donald Trump,” he told reporters in Evansville, Indiana, as voters headed to the polls in a GOP primary that could determine the fate of the Cruz campaign.

The Texas senator singled out Rupert Murdoch, the owner of the media empire that includes Fox News, and Roger Ailes, the chairman and CEO of Fox News.

“Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes at Fox News have turned Fox News into the Donald Trump network 24/7,” he said.

The rant against the conservative news outlet comes as Mr. Cruz scrambles to keep his presidential ambitions alive with a come-from-behind win in the Indiana primary.

He is down in the polls in Indiana and badly needs a big win there to keep hope alive for blocking Mr. Trump from locking up the nomination before the Republican National Convention in July.

Mr. Cruz pleaded with Indiana voters to help stop Mr. Trump and save the country from plunging into “the abyss.”

“I would say to the Hoosier State, the entire country is depending on you, the entire country is looking to you right now,” said Mr. Cruz. “It is only Indiana that can pull us back. It is only the good sense and good judgment of Indiana that can pull us back. We are staring at the abyss, and I have incredibly faith in Hoosiers.”
