NBCNews.com on Thursday apparently chose an unfortunate headline prior to President Obama’s visit to Hiroshima, the site of the Aug. 6, 1945, dropping of the atomic bomb.

“Obama: Hiroshima Visit to Underscore the ’Job’s Not Done,’” read the headline, which appears to have been screen captured from Apple’s iPhone News app.

“This is, perhaps, not the best headline,” quipped Center for Public Integrity investigative reporter Dave Levinthal via Twitter Thursday evening.

Mr. Obama “shouldn’t be surprised, then, if the city looks unusually empty, as though the citizens had evacuated in advance of his arrival. Blame NBC News for that,” cracked Twitchy.com on Thursday night, noting the headline gaffe.

The poorly-worded headline appears to be a shortened version of one currently on the NBCNews.com website for a Thursday morning story headlined “Obama: Hiroshima Visit Will Underscore ’Job’s Not Done’ on Nuclear Disarmament.”
