In a Twitter exchange with Jake Tapper Thursday morning, former major league outfielder Jose Canseco trolled the CNN anchor as an “unerudite” “ding ding” for only listing three items in a tweet promoting the day’s CNN.com “Five Things” morning news brief.

“Today’s 5 things: Hillary Clinton email. ISIS. Transgender lawsuits https://www.cnn.com/2016/05/26/us/five-things-thursday/index.html …” tweeted Mr. Tapper, who anchors the network’s “The Lead” afternoon program.

“@jaketapper that’s only 3 you old ding ding,” snarked Mr. Canseco in reply.

“You’re supposed to click the link, Jose,” replied Mr. Tapper, prompting the former ballplayer to fire back, “hey buddy next time add AND MORE ! at the end of your tweet. Then u will be factual , sound less unerudite, & excite your readers.”

Twitter users given to mockery were predictably excited by the dust-up.

“One fly ball to the head too many,” quipped user @wodeshed.

“Jose Canseco calling someone an ’old ding ding’….precious irony,” added user @AstrosfanNJ.
