A 7-year-old boy is being hailed for his act of bravery after he fought back against armed robbers at a Maryland GameStop last week.
Two masked men armed with handguns entered a Silver Spring GameStop Friday night, police said. Surveillance video showed one of the suspects grab the little boy before the boy starts hitting the suspect with a stuffed animal he was holding.
“He saw somebody who was a stranger, who seemed most dangerous to him and he tried to defend himself,” the boy’s father, who did not want to be identified, told a local Fox News affiliate. “I think it was his natural instinct taking over there.”
The father said he and his wife were separated from their son when the suspects rushed into the store. The suspects ordered the two store clerks, the boy and the boy’s parents to get down on the floor while they robbed the place, Fox News reported.
The suspects made off with cash and personal property, including the store employees’ cellphones, before leaving through the front door of the store, police said.
No arrests have been made.
Police are searching for two black men in their 20s, approximately 5’6” tall and weighing 170 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call the Robbery Section at (240) 773-5070 or Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 1-866-411-TIPS.
