Sen. Bernard Sanders has pulled to within 2 points of Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton in California, according to a new poll released ahead of the June 7 primary contest.
Among likely Democratic primary voters, 46 percent said they support Mrs. Clinton and 44 percent said they support Mr. Sanders, according to a poll released Wednesday by the Public Policy Institute of California.
A PPIC poll released in March showed Mrs. Clinton with a 7-point, 48 percent to 41 percent lead over Mr. Sanders.
She has about an 8-point lead over Mr. Sanders in the latest Real Clear Politics average on the state, with recent polls swinging from a 2-point lead to an advantage of nearly 20 points for the former secretary of state.
In a fall presidential match-up, Mrs. Clinton led presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump by 10 points, 49 percent to 39 percent.
Mr. Sanders, meanwhile, led Mr. Trump by 17 points, 53 percent to 36 percent.
