The actress-model wife of Johnny Depp has filed for divorce at a particularly awkward time for the movie star, TMZ reported Wednesday afternoon.
According to the celebrity-entertainment site, Amber Heard made the petition Monday, just three days after Mr. Depp’s mother had died.
The petition reportedly cites “irreconcilable differences” after about 15 months of marriage — her first, his second.
Ms. Heard “came out” in 2010 at an event for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, but has also said before the Depp marriage that “I don’t label myself one way or another — I have had successful relationships with men and now a woman. I love who I love; it’s the person that matters.”
According to TMZ, Ms. Heard is asking for alimony, though the couple had no pre-nuptial agreement.
According to an interview in Us Magazine, Ms. Heard and Mr. Deep met in 2009, while they were both cast in the film “The Rum Diary.” They began dating in 2012, around the time Mr. Depp ended his decade-long nonmarital partnership with French actress-singer Vanessa Paradis.
