Likely Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is poised for a win in California next month, according to a new poll that shows her leading Sen. Bernard Sanders by 18 points in the state.
Mrs. Clinton led Mr. Sanders by a 57 percent to 39 percent margin in the SurveyUSA poll released this week.
California, which votes on June 7, is the biggest prize left on the board in the Democratic presidential primary contest. Mrs. Clinton has solid leads over Mr. Sanders among both pledged delegates and super delegates.
Looking ahead to the general election, Mrs. Clinton led likely GOP nominee Donald Trump by 14 points in the poll, 52 percent to 38 percent.
As has been the case in other surveys, voters didn’t have a terribly high opinion of either candidate. For Mrs. Clinton, 39 percent said they have a positive opinion of her and 45 percent said they have a negative one.
And 27 percent said they have a positive opinion of Mr. Trump, compared to 61 percent who said they have a negative one.
Mr. Sanders, meanwhile, had a 42 percent/30 percent positive/negative split.
