LOUISVILLE — Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president and CEO of the National Rifle Association, questioned Friday whether likely Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will be able to survive her “FBI primary.”
“Even if Hillary survives [the] primary — and by that, I mean her FBI primary — yeah, that’s the real one,” Mr. LaPierre said in helping kick off the NRA-ILA “Leadership Forum” on Friday at NRA’s annual meetings here.
“Even if she survives,” Mr. LaPierre said, “is she really the type of person [we] want to lead America?”
Mr. LaPierre was referring to an FBI investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s private email system and server she set up to use as secretary of state.
“Here’s the thing: you know what all of America is saying around their dinner table?” Mr. LaPierre said. “They’re saying, ’if that were me, I’d already be in prison.’”
“Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have been able to ignore us so far, but they will not be able to ignore us on election day,” he said. “In November, we the people get the last word.”
The NRA officially endorsed likely GOP nominee Donald Trump for president on Friday ahead what appears to be a coming showdown between Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton in the fall general election.
