The barrage of candid and off-the-cuff tweets from presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump could come to an end if he wins the White House, top Trump surrogate Ben Carson said Friday.
“He’s gonna be too busy, quite frankly, for that,” Mr. Carson said on Fox News.
The tweets have been a double-edged sward for the Trump campaign, allowing Mr. Trump to dominate the news cycle but also drawing criticism for his sometimes outlandish statements.
Likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and others criticized Mr. Trump for tweeting that it looked like terrorists downed the EgyptAir flight immediately after the plane crashed Thursday into the Mediterranean Sea.
The critics say Mr. Trump’s tweets underscore his lack of temperament necessary to be president.
Mr. Carson, who dropped out of the Republican presidential race in March and then became a prominent supporter of Mr. Trump, said that a President Trump would be too absorbed with world events to tweet about each and every one of them.
“It will not only be, you know, the crash, it will be things that are going on in Iraq, things that are going on in North Korea, things that are going on in the South China Sea,” he said. “He’s gonna be dealing with a lot of stuff. He’s not gonna have time to be tweeting about that.”
