Should there be one more formal debate between Democratic presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernard Sanders? Mrs. Clinton has declined to participate in the event, which would air on Fox News just prior to the pivotal California primary on June 7.
“But Hillary Clinton has not yet committed to that debate — not yet committed to face off against Bernie,” Fox News prime-time host Bill O’Reilly told his audience on Thursday night.
“So I, your humble correspondent, have a tip of the day for Mrs. Clinton. It would be to your advantage, Madam Secretary, to do this debate, even though we know you have the nomination locked up, that’s true,” Mr. O’Reilly continued.
“Lots of folks who may be skeptical about you will be watching that debate. And you might impress them and get some votes in the general election. So, let’s wrap this whole deal up. Call me tonight, we’ll confirm, Bernie versus Hillary on Fox News Channel in California,” he concluded.
While the debate may still be in the air, the campaigning continues. Mr. Sanders will be in Northern California for the weekend for large-scale rallies in National City and Vista. Mrs. Clinton, however, is fundraising.
She personally appeared two events in Chicago on Thursday, scheduled three more on Friday in Texas, then rounds out her schedule with one more in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, with tickets that cost as much as $27,000.
Former President Bill Clinton, meanwhile, is in formal campaign mode, appearing at events on behalf of his spouse in North Dakota and South Dakota.
