Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said on Friday he wasn’t entirely surprised that House Speaker Paul D. Ryan did not endorse him after the two met Thursday, but said other endorsements are rolling in and that he thinks Mr. Ryan will come around eventually.
“No, I think it’s a process,” Mr. Trump said on NBC’s “Today” program when asked if he was disappointed that there was no endorsement coming out of the meeting. “I was a little bit surprised, but not that surprised, frankly.”
“We did, as you know … get endorsed by many, many people, and they’re pouring in now,” he said. “Many senators and many congressmen — we got many endorsements yesterday.”
“And I think that will come, and if it doesn’t come, I’ll go my separate way,” Mr. Trump said. “[I] think I’ll win the election because Hillary Clinton is a disaster — on the assumption she gets it, on the assumption she’s even allowed to run.”
Mr. Trump met with Mr. Ryan and other GOP leaders in Washington, D.C. on Thursday. Mr. Ryan said he was encouraged by his meeting with the presumptive Republican nominee.
In a separate interview on Fox News on Friday, Mr. Trump said the meeting was positive and that he’d think Mr. Ryan would eventually endorse him.

“We had a great meeting. I thought it was a really good meeting, and I think over a short period of time, things will come together,” Mr. Trump said on “Fox and Friends.”
