Asked this week about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s stated support for his GOP primary opponent, House Speaker Paul D. Ryan said he doesn’t really worry too much about “outside agitation.”

“Look, people [in] Wisconsin know me well,” Mr. Ryan said on WTMJ radio when asked about Mrs. Palin’s offering her support for Mr. Ryan’s primary opponent.

“I really don’t have anything to say — only that my focus is on the people of this district and unifying the Republican party upon [a] core set of principles,” he said. “People know me really well here in Wisconsin. … They know I am going to stand up for my principles that are conservative principles, no matter how popular that may be on any given day.”

“And they know me personally very well, so I don’t really worry too much about outside agitation,” he said.

Mrs. Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, has endorsed presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. She slammed Mr. Ryan on CNN’s “State of the Union” this week for recently saying he wasn’t ready to support Mr. Trump’s candidacy yet.

She also said she will do whatever she can to help Paul Nehlen, who is mounting a primary challenge against Mr. Ryan.
