Hillary Clinton was locked in a tight battle in West Virginia’s Democratic presidential primary Tuesday night, still struggling to overcome a feisty challenge from Sen. Bernard Sanders.

Networks said the race was too close to call as polls closed at 7:30, which meant exit polling didn’t give either candidate a significant lead.

Mrs. Clinton holds a substantial lead in both pledged delegates and among superdelegates, the party leaders who will likely end up being the deciding factor at the July convention in Philadelphia. But she’s struggled to put the race away, as Mr. Sanders won a surprise victory in Indiana last week and has vowed to fight her all the way to the convention.

Mrs. Clinton’s struggles, after years of campaigning and with her formidable political operations, are all the more stunning compared to likely GOP nominee Donald Trump, who only began campaigning 11 months ago and has already dispatched a far more formidable field of 16 major opponents.
