At a Democratic primary debate in Miami, Univision anchor Jorge Ramos was booed loudly Wednesday night after asking Hillary Clinton about the 2012 Benghazi attacks.
The boos from the crowd at Miami-Dade College began almost immediately after Mr. Ramos mentioned the incident, which resulted in the deaths of four American diplomats. He specifically asked whether Mrs. Clinton, who was serving as secretary of state at the time, lied to the families of the victims and led them to believe the attack was solely the result of an anti-Muslim video, rather than a premeditated terrorist attack.
“We were scrambling to get information that was changing literally by the hour, and when we had information we made it public and then sometimes we had to go back and say we have new information that contradicts it,” she said, explaining the conflicting stories about the nature and motivation behind the attack that came out of the administration in the aftermath.
“This was fog of war,” she said. “This was complicated.”
Mrs. Clinton’s opponent, Sen. Bernard Sanders, would not weigh in on the Benghazi attacks and the former secretary of state’s actions afterward.
