MIAMI — Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton on Wednesday pledged to restore bipartisanship to Washington when she’s president and her party retakes control of the U.S. Senate.
Mrs. Clinton said that she hoped to make incremental progress on a climate change agenda working with a Republican-run U.S. Senate. But she said the real bipartisan progress would come when Democrats win a majority in the upper chamber.
She said that she did not expect to pass laws that force the United States to transition completely away from fossil field to clean energy “until we win back enough seats, take back the senate and get back to bipartisanship.”
