ANNAPOLIS — Gov. Larry Hogan may have stumped for former presidential hopeful and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, but he said Tuesday that nobody should expect him go on the road for anyone else.

“Quite frankly, I’m completely disgusted with national politics in both parties, Democrats and Republicans,” Mr. Hogan, a Republican, said during a news conference Tuesday, in response to a question about whether he would support billionaire businessman Donald Trump for his party’s nomination.

“I’m trying to focus here in Maryland,” Mr. Hogan said. “I don’t know who the Republican nominee is going to be, don’t know who the Democratic nominee is going to be and don’t know if we’re going to have a third-party candidate. So it’s way too early to speculate about who I might consider once I pull that curtain. But I’m not going to get involved. I’m going to stay focused here in Maryland.”

Mr. Christie, after dropping out of the presidential race last month, endorsed Mr. Trump for the Republican nomination.

Mr. Hogan and Mr. Christie are close friends, and the New Jersey governor played a large role in getting Mr. Hogan elected in 2014. Mr. Hogan said he had no idea Mr. Christie would be endorsing Mr. Trump, and that his friend’s endorsement didn’t automatically translate to his.

“We never talked. We traded phone calls a couple times but never really talked,” he said. “I have no idea what he was thinking on that one.”
