The political arm of the conservative anti-tax group Club for Growth announced Monday it’s launching a $2 million advertising blitz in Illinois to try to stop GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump.

The buy from Club for Growth Action includes one 30-second ad that include a past statement from Mr. Trump that he probably identifies “more as a Democrat” in many cases and another highlighting Mr. Trump’s position on eminent domain.

“The momentum is shifting away from Donald Trump,” Club for Growth Action President David McIntosh said. “Overwhelming wins by Senator Ted Cruz in Kansas and Maine and a delegate tie in Louisiana showed that Republican voters don’t want a big-government liberal like Donald Trump at the top of the GOP ticket.”

Illinois votes on March 15, when all-important contests in Ohio and Florida will also take place.

Mr. Trump says he plans to use social media to fight off incoming attacks.

“How do you fight millions of dollars of fraudulent commercials pushing for crooked politicians? I will be using Facebook & Twitter. Watch!” he tweeted Sunday evening.
