MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin has hired George Washington’s Jonathan Tsipis as its women’s basketball coach.
Tsipis succeeds Bobbie Kelsey, who was fired after Wisconsin went 47-100 during her five years. The Badgers haven’t finished above .500 since 2010-11.
Under Tsipis, the Colonials made their second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance this season to go with a second consecutive Atlantic 10 championship. George Washington was 11-18 the season before he arrived in 2012-13 and became one of the nation’s top rebounding teams.
Tsipis also worked for nine seasons as an assistant at Notre Dame under coach Muffet McGraw.
