Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said Monday that there is not a “shred of evidence” to support claims that she favors Hillary Clinton for her party’s presidential nomination.

Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo confronted Ms. Wasserman Schultz with repeated claims by fellow Democrats, including Sen. Bernard Sanders, former rival Martin O’Malley and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who accused the lawmaker from Florida of scheduling the Democratic presidential debates in a way that was advantageous to Mrs. Clinton, The Washington Free Beacon reported.

“It’s pretty clear that you’re favoring Hillary Clinton,” Ms. Bartiromo said. “What do you want to say to Bernie Sanders’ supporters?”

“No, no,” Ms. Wasserman Schultz responded. “There’s just no shred of evidence to suggest that I’m favoring Hillary Clinton. I’m not doing a very good job wrapping the nomination up for her if I were actually favoring Hillary Clinton. I could have worked a lot harder at it if that were what I was doing.

“There’s no evidence to that effect,” she said. “If I wanted to support a particular candidate, I would do exactly that. Not be DNC chair and go support a candidate, but I truly believe that my time is best spent making sure that I can get our party ready, to make sure we can continue the progress that we’ve made under Barack Obama.”

Ms. Wasserman Schultz said the president’s economic and social justice progress “would be rolled back” if Americans elect Republican Donald Trump, “who has espoused the most un-American, vitriolic, misogynistic, vile policies of any presidential candidate in modern times.”

She also insisted she is “thrilled” about Mr. Sanders’ success this campaign season.

“Any time we have a Democratic candidate who is bringing more enthusiasm and activists into the party, that’s fantastic,” she said.
