Donald Trump’s sister became the second member of his family to receive a similar threatening note, authorities said Sunday.
Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, who’s a judge for the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia, got a note similar to the one received Friday by her nephew Eric, son of the real-estate mogul and Republican presidential frontrunner.
The FBI had no further details Sunday evening beyond saying it is “aware of the incident and is working closely with the United States Secret Service and U.S. Marshals Service.”
The note to Eric Trump demanded that his father exit the presidential race. Eric Trump, unlike his aunt, has campaigned on Donald Trump’s behalf.
Mr. Trump has been widely vilified by liberals as beyond the pale of decency because of his stances on immigration and his remarks about women. For this and other reasons, his rallies have been targeted by demonstrators, who took credit for shutting one down last week in Chicago.
Some Trump supporters, and sometimes Mr. Trump himself and his campaign staffers, have committed violence in retaliation and/or cheered on others doing so.
