Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Wednesday that establishment Republicans are “bedwetting” over GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump and are part of the reason why voters are flocking to Mr. Trump in the first place.

“Here’s what I think is happening: the establishment Republicans are all bedwetting over this, and they don’t seem to understand that we have an election,” Mr. Huckabee said on “Fox and Friends.”

Mr. Huckabee, who ended his own 2016 presidential bid last month, had been asked about a new anti-Trump super PAC making a last-ditch effort to take down the billionaire businessman, who racked up wins in seven states on Super Tuesday.

“Look, I just believe that at some point we need to recognize if you want to oppose Donald Trump, do it,” Mr. Huckabee said. “But don’t pretend that somehow that all these voters who have gone out and voted for him are stupid. They’re not stupid.

“I’ll tell you what they are: they’re angry, and they’re angry at the very establishment who is going nuts because Donald Trump is doing so well, and they don’t get it that they’re the problem,” he said. “They are the problem.”

Mr. Huckabee hasn’t yet endorsed a candidate since exiting the race and said he isn’t planning to do so.
