If you listen to world leadership these days, you would think there was no real difference between Western civilization and the Islamic world. Whether it be the United Nations, Europe, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, everyone is fixated on a deal between Palestinians and Israel.

Islamic migrants are held up as a generic cohort that should be removed from their own countries and assimilated into the West.

But it’s not that easy, is it? Generations have tried to convince the world that Arab terrorists really just want their own piece of land with which to farm and live and raise their families. Instead, they build tunnels, fire rockets at civilians and wage jihads of stabbings.

Europe is also finding not every culture is the same as they contend with mass sexual assaults, crime waves and general barbaric behavior from the people they presumed would appreciate their hosts. But that’s not happening. European leadership didn’t take into account that the sort of culture that prefers tyrants like Saddam Hussein and Moammar Gadhafi, and gives birth to movements of mass murder, is apt to offer the world individuals who behave like barbarians. Because, well, they are.

As the Islamic State or ISIS army of Charles Mansons continues to roam the world unimpeded by political cowards, Western civilization continues to make strides in improving people’s lives.

As Islamist terrorists in ISIS were coming up with more creative ways to torture people to death, an Israeli professor in Europe was succeeding in reversing Alzheimer’s symptoms. Yes, you read that right — reversing Alzheimer’s symptoms.

“An Israeli research professor, heading an international team of scientists, has discovered a way to inhibit the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, the Hebrew news site Walla reported on Monday,” reports Algemeiner. “According to a paper she and her team published last month in the journal Nature Neuroscience, Professor Knafo discovered that the synapses of the brain can be made more plastic using a certain small protein, which inhibits the processes normally associated with impairment, from depression to full-fledged cognitive disability. Brain-impaired mice administered the protein were reportedly restored to full cognitive function.”

Committing genocide versus reversing the scourge of Alzheimer’s. No wonder Iran fires ballistic missiles with “Israel must be wiped out,” written in Hebrew. Jealousy and envy are terrible things.

What have United Kingdom medical researchers been doing while Islamic migrants rape-rampage throughout the European Union? In what is being described as “astonishing,” researchers were discovering a drug combination that could shrink or eliminate breast cancer tumors in less than two weeks.

The Guardian reports, “Using Herceptin in combination with another drug before surgery shrinks and may even destroy tumours in women with an aggressive form of breast cancer in less than two weeks, an ’astonishing’ study suggests. The results of the Cancer Research UK-funded trial, presented at the 10th European Breast Cancer Conference in Amsterdam, could — if successfully replicated — lead to fewer women needing chemotherapy. Around a quarter of 66 women with HER2 positive breast cancer treated for 11 days with both trastuzumab (the generic name for Herceptin) and lapatinib saw their tumours rapidly shrink significantly or even disappear.”

Remarkable. If accurate, this discovery could eliminate one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer in women without the debilitating use of chemotherapy and surgery.

As this life-saving discovery was being developed, Islamist terrorists in Syria and Iraq were refining the development of new chemical weapons. Iran was testing multiple missile systems and the genocidal terrorist army of ISIS was “greatly expanding” its control in Libya according to the U.N. and Reuters.

Western civilization, and its founders the Jews, have developed a way of life that relies on faith, education, freedom and dignity for all people. For millennia savages have tried to exterminate what they can’t bear — a people who highlight by their very existence what the barbarians will never be. The 21st century is clearly no different.

Something that should worry everyone with an interest in preserving the jewel of humanity — Western Civilization, is an American president who makes national security decisions based on viewing a Batman movie.

In the Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg reveals the analogy President Obama uses to explain why he decided defeating ISIS was important:

“Advisers recall that Obama would cite a pivotal moment in ’The Dark Knight,’ the 2008 Batman movie, to help explain not only how he understood the role of ISIS, but how he understood the larger ecosystem in which it grew. ’There’s a scene in the beginning in which the gang leaders of Gotham are meeting,’ the president would say. ’These are men who had the city divided up. They were thugs, but there was a kind of order. Everyone had his turf. And then the Joker comes in and lights the whole city on fire. ISIL is the Joker. It has the capacity to set the whole region on fire. That’s why we have to fight it.’ “

That’s right. Mr. Obama must have just watched a basketball game when he decided ISIS was a Jayvee team. Now we know he watched a Batman movie and decided ISIS was the Joker. God help us should he catch the “Wizard of Oz” on television. If we catch Mr. Obama clicking his heels together and chanting “There’s no place like home … there’s no place like home …” we’ll know someone’s launched a nuke.

Western Civilization brings wonderful, life-affirming elements to our lives, like education, modern medicine and film. Yet these gifts rely on our choosing leadership that is mature, sober and has a grip on reality. While great people work to improve the quality of our lives, as long as the United States has a president that makes foreign policy decisions based on cartoon characters in a movie, we are all at risk.
