Bent on stopping Donald Trump from winning the Republican presidential nomination, Mitt Romney plans to hit the campaign trail Monday in Ohio with Gov. John Kasich, who is looking for his first win of the presidential campaign Tuesday in his home-state primary.

Mr. Romney has emerged as one of the most vocal critics of Mr. Trump, after seeking out and eventually receiving the New York billionaire’s endorsement during his failed presidential bid in 2012.

The former Massachusetts governor recently warned that Mr. Trump would be a disaster for the party and urged voters to unite behind Mr. Kasich, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida or Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

Mr. Romney plans to appear with Mr. Kasich at a pair of events on the eve of the primary in Ohio, where Mr. Trump is looking to expand his lead by winning the winner-take-all contest.

Mr. Trump says he wishes Mr. Romney showed this sort of energy during his 2012 presidential campaign, but says instead Mr. Romney choked.
