The Israeli border with Gaza was a very dangerous area in 2014 during the height of the war between the Jewish state and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Up to 2,500 rockets a year landed on Sderot, a town a mile away from the territory, during this period. I witnessed a barrage personally and saw elderly grandparents scrambling to protect their grandchildren as shrapnel shattered the walls of their homes and businesses from unguided projectiles. It seems the rocket attacks may be beginning anew as violence toward Jews mounts and the Israeli government responds.

The sirens from the Israeli Iron Dome are sounding again; within the last few hours another projectile was fired from Gaza and landed harmlessly in an unoccupied field. A barrage of rockets was also launched in January of this year and engendered a response from the Israeli military which struck four Hamas targets, reports the Jerusalem Post.

Slashings and stabbings by Palestinian terrorists in Israel have killed scores of Israeli citizens and tourists alike over the last year. The government has moved to restrict travel from Gaza and the West Bank in an attempt to protect its citizenry. As travel between the Jewish State and Palestinians is reduced, Hamas may again resort to rocket fire to keep up the fight against its arch enemy.

International media has mostly been silent on the murders of Israelis while glorifying Palestinians as martyrs and oppressed people. To quote former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.”
