PALM BEACH — Donald Trump’s presidential campaign will look to leverage the social media presence that retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson built while running for president, the businessman’s campaign manager said Friday.
Mr. Carson will hit the road with the business mogul as Mr. Trump campaigns for president, but the central message and tone of Mr. Trump’s campaign, the slogan “Make America Great Again,” will not change with Mr. Carson’s endorsement, Corey Lewandowski, Mr. Trump’s campaign manager, told reporters before the formal endorsement in Palm Beach, Florida.
“We’re not going to segregate out demographics, we talk to everybody just the same, and our message applies to all – ’Make America Great Again,’ ” Mr. Lewandowski replied when asked if the campaign would use Mr. Carson’s influence within the black and evangelical communities to get out the vote for Mr. Trump.
Mr. Lewandowski said the campaign is looking forward to use the social media juggernaut Mr. Carson has built to reach out to his constituency with Mr. Trump’s message.
