Donald Trump said he doesn’t condone violence at his rallies after he was asked by moderator Jake Tapper during the CNN debate if he’s done anything to create a tone at his campaign events invites violent behavior.
“I hope not, I truly hope not,” Mr. Trump replied from Miami University. “We have 25-30,000 people, you’ve seen it yourself, people come with passion and love for the country and when they see protesters in some cases … when they see what’s going on in this country they have anger that’s unbelievable.
“They love this country, they don’t like seeing bad trade deals, seeing higher taxes, they don’t like to see a loss of their jobs. … I see it, there’s some great anger, but there’s also great love for the country. But I certainly don’t condone that at all,” Mr. Trump said.
Mr. Trump came under fire this week after a supporter sucker-punched a protester at a rally in North Carolina.
