A Republican-led group that is spearheading a late-in-the-game effort to block Donald Trump from capturing the GOP presidential nomination dinged the New York billionaire in a new web ad released during Super Tuesday and vowed to ratchet up the attacks against him over the coming weeks.
The group, called Our Principles PAC, warned in the spot that Mr. Trump is “unelectable,” highlighting television television footage that makes the case that his initial reluctance to disavow former Klu Klux Klan officail David Duke is part of a “disturbing pattern when it comes to race that the Democrats will exploit to the fullest extent.”
“As the results roll-in tonight, I wanted to emphasize that the fight to stop Donald Trump from getting the nomination is intensifying regardless of tonight’s outcome. I’m pleased to be a part of it,” said Tim Miller, who served as spokesman to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s presidential bid, which ended last month.
“Donald’s general election campaign will fail worse than Trump Mortgage and Trump Steaks. Hillary Clinton will destroy him even if she’s campaigning from jail. Our Principles PAC will fight until the last delegate is counted to stop that from happening,” Mr. Miller said.
American Principles PAC formed in the weeks ahead of the Iowa caucuses. The New York Times reported that the group plans to attack Mr. Trump in the run-up to the coming nomination contests on March 8 and March 15.
Mr. Trump, meanwhile, was poised for another strong showing with wins in, among other places, Alabama, Tennessee, and Virginia.
