President Obama will meet with Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernard Sanders on Thursday at the White House, at Mr. Sanders’ request.

According to a statement released late Tuesday by White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, Mr. Obama and Mr. Sanders will discuss “the significant issues at stake in this election that matter most of America’s working families” and how to “build on the extraordinary work [Mr. Sanders] has done to engage millions of Democratic voters” going forward.

Mr. Obama placed calls to Mr. Sanders and Hillary Clinton on Tuesday night to congratulate both on “running inspiring campaigns that have energized Democrats.”

Mr. Obama congratulated Mrs. Clinton for securing enough delegates to clinch the Democratic nomination and lauded Mr. Sanders for his “commitment to issues like fighting economic inequality and special interests’ influence on our politics.”
