The Washington Capitals are bringing Tom Wilson back.
The free agent right-winger signed a two-year, $4 million contract, the team announced on Thursday. He is due to make $1.75 million in 2016-17 and $2.25 million in 2017-18, according to the team.
Wilson had 23 points last season, including seven goals and 16 assists to go with 163 penalty minutes in 82 games. He set career-highs in points, goals, assists and plus/minus. Wilson was the team leader in penalty minutes, ranking third in the NHL while finishing 10th in the league in hits.
“Beyond excited to be back in DC for two years. See you guys soon!,” Wilson tweeted on Thursday.
Wilson, 22, was a first-round draft pick of the Capitals in 2012. He has 50 points and 486 penalty minutes in 231 career games with the Capitals.
Wilson was a restricted free agent.
The Capitals also announced the re-signing of forward Zach Sill to a two-year, two way contract on Thursday. Sill scored one goal in 10 games with the team in last season. The lone tally came Jan. 10 against Ottawa after making his Capitals debut on Dec. 30against Buffalo. He has five points in 93 career NHL games with Pittsburgh, Toronto and the Capitals.
