Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the smash Broadway musical “Hamilton,” will take his final curtain call as the show’s title character on July 9, the Hollywood Reporter said on Thursday.

That’s when the contracts for many of the show’s cast, including Mr. Miranda, expire, the entertainment magazine explained, adding that Mr. Miranda’s departure date will make the already-scarce tickets for the show even harder to score.

The Hollywood Reporter went on to suggest that President Obama and his wife, who have invited the play’s cast to the White House, may take in the show on the night of Mr. Miranda’s final performance.

First lady Michelle Obama has praised the musical as the “best piece of art in any form that I have ever seen in my life,” the Hollywood Reporter said.

A note for history buffs: Mr. Miranda’s final bow will come just three days shy of the 212th anniversary of Alexander Hamilton’s death resulting from a duel with then-Vice President Aaron Burr.
