Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton plans to run a new television ad over the weekend that celebrates “the richness of America’s Latino community” and highlights how GOP rival Donald Trump has voiced support for a “deportation force.”
The minute-long ” Nuestra Historia” or “Our History” ad follows a Supreme Court ruling Thursday that halted President Obama’s deportation amnesty and is set to run nationally Sunday during the final game of the Copa America soccer tournament.
The ad features the stories of people from Colombian, Mexican, Salvadoran and Puerto Rican descent that call the United States home, including military veterans.
“As I look at American history, I see that this has always been a country of we, not me,” Mrs. Clinton says in the ad. “We stand together because we are stronger together.”
The ad also recycles footage of Mr. Trump on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” saying, “You’re going to have a deportation force.”
The Supreme Court deadlocked 4-4 Thursday over the Obama administration’s push to grant a deportation amnesty to roughly 5 million illegal immigrants that met certain criteria, keeping in place a lower court’s injunction to nix the effort.
Mr. Trump celebrated the decision. Mrs. Clinton opposed it.
