President Obama will travel Friday to Seattle to attend an event for Gov. Jay Inslee, who was in Washington this week and joined Democrat lawmakers’ sit-in in the House chamber to demand votes on new gun laws.

Mr. Obama, who will be in Northern California Friday at a government-sponsored business summit, will fly to Seattle in the afternoon to attend the event with Mr. Inslee and an event for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said the White House.

During the sit-in Wednesday, Mr. Inslee tweeted a photo of himself on the House floor and wrote that he was there “to thank House Democrats for standing against gun violence.”

The White House did not say whether the event with Mr. Inslee would address the gun-control issue, which Democrats have thrust to the forefront of political debate in response to the terror attack in Orlando.
