President Obama called Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan Wednesday to congratulate him and the Penguins on their Stanley Cup victory, according to the White House.
Mr. Obama commended the team’s talented players and applauded their teamwork and dedication throughout the season. He also invited the four-time Stanley Cup champions to the White House to celebrate their victory, said the White House.
The Penguins won their fourth Stanley Cup title earlier this month after defeating the San Jose Sharks 3-1 in Game 6. The Penguins won the championship after recovering from a difficult start to the season.
