Six previously-scheduled performances in Manhattan have been canceled by concert promoter Live Nation in the wake of a fatal concert shooting last week, Rolling Stone magazine reported Wednesday.
“In light of last week’s tragic event, we are acting with an overabundance of caution and coordinating a going forward strategy with the New York Police Department that may also include a curfew,” a spokesperson for Irving Plaza and Gramercy Theatre told Rolling Stone. “Because these discussions with New York Police Department are ongoing, we will be postponing a few of our upcoming shows.”
The May 25 shooting backstage at Irving Plaza was reportedly instigated by a fight. On Monday, Roland Collins, better known by his stage name Troy Ave, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, a charge which New York’s local NBC affiliate reported could be upgraded to a murder charge pending results of ballistics tests.
New York’s CW affiliate reported Tuesday that “investigators now say someone else may have fired the shot that hurt Collins and left his bodyguard Ronald McPhatter dead.”
