Taylor Swift and English actor Tom Hiddleston were photographed by The Sun newspaper canoodling on a Rhode Island beach on Tuesday, nearly two weeks after the pop star ended her romance with Scottish D.J. Calvin Harris.

Mr. Hiddleston has been rumored to be on the short list to replace Daniel Craig as MI6 superspy James Bond, although the 35-year-old actor has been playing down his prospects to be cast in the role. He has also played the character Loki in “The Avengers” and “Thor: The Dark World.”

“They looked like any young couple madly in love without a care in the world,” an onlooker told the British tabloid.

The Sun on Wednesday published what it says are exclusive photos of the pair, reporting that they had “formed an instant connection after meeting at New York’s star-studded Met Gala on May 4 where they were sat next to each other at dinner.”

“Within a month her previously rock solid romance with Calvin, who had described their relationship as ’magical,’ was over,” the paper said.

A source told The Sun that the “timing of this looks very bad for Taylor,” but that “[h]er people are insistent that no one else was involved in the split with Calvin.”

Hollywood gossip site TMZ.com on Wednesday quoted a source close to Mr. Harris saying he’s “pissed and feels betrayed by her.”
