Oprah Winfrey has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, saying it’s a “seminal moment” for American women, regardless of their politics.
Ms. Winfrey told Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of her new OWN drama, “Greenleaf,” that it’s “about time” the country elected a female president.
“I really believe that is going to happen,” the 62-year-old said. “It’s about time that we make that decision.”
“Regardless of your politics, it’s a seminal moment for women,” she said. “What this says is, there is no ceiling, that ceiling just went boom! It says anything is possible when you can be leader of the free world.”
“I’m with her,” said Ms. Winfrey, using the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s campaign slogan.
The news is likely to disappoint presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, who said at the start of his campaign last year that he would “love” to have Ms. Winfrey as a running-mate.

Ms. Winfrey also weighed in on Sunday’s terrorist attack at an Orlando gay nightclub that left at least 49 people dead.
“What will be the number? What will be the number?” she asked an Associated Press reporter. “What number is high enough to get our attention, so that we will say, ’Enough’?”
“You know, one side says ’Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.’ That is true,” Ms. Winfrey noted. “But are we a country that really believes that assault weapons should be made available to anybody? Are assault weapons necessary? I just say, ’Enough.’ When are we going to be conscious enough to say, ’That doesn’t make any sense?’ We have the right to bear arms, but do we have the right to bear assault weapons? That’s what I ask.”
