A hacker known as “Wauchula Ghost” has become infamous to the Islamic State for compromising the terror organization’s Twitter accounts and filling them with pornography.
At least 160 members of the terrorist group have recently found their accounts filled with pictures of nude women and texts that read, “I [heart] porn.”
The Washington Post conducted a phone interview with the hacker Tuesday to learn more about his motives. “Ghost” said he is a member of the hacking group Anonymous and has loved computers since he was a teenager.
“Daesh doesn’t like porn,” Ghost told The Post, using a pejorative name for the terror group, also known as ISIS and ISIL. “They don’t like women in general. We just started using [porn] to poke fun at them and diminish their presence online. The government really hasn’t been doing enough especially on social media. You see the beheading images everywhere. Kids get online and shouldn’t see these images.”
Ghost admitted that children should not see pornography, but said his “hactivism” is targeted at Islamic State recruiters and those who look for the group’s propaganda.
“I think [anti-Islamic State hackers are] there to serve a purpose — at least I know I am,” Ghost said. “My goal waking up in the morning [is to] see messages from Daesh, telling me they’re going to kill me or cut my head off. The madder they get, the happier I get.”
The hacker said he adds hijacked Islamic State-related accounts to a public list titled “Jacked accounts,” which Twitter then suspends.
Twitter has suspended more than 125,000 accounts for promoting terrorism since 2015, The Post reported.
