Hillary Clinton on Wednesday will continue her focus on national security with an event in Hampton, Virginia, part of her renewed emphasis on counter-terrorism in the wake of the weekend’s deadly attack in Orlando.
Mrs. Clinton will speak at the Virginia Air and Space Center in Hampton and will host a “conversation” with veterans, military families and the defense community, her campaign said Tuesday.
“Clinton will again emphasize her plans to keep America safe while adhering to our nation’s guiding principles and values. At the event, Clinton will hear directly from a community uniquely impacted by national security decisions about what they are looking for in our next commander in chief,” the campaign said in a press release announcing the event.
The former first lady originally was scheduled Wednesday to campaign in Wisconsin with President Obama, but that appearance was canceled following the Orlando attack.
Mrs. Clinton immediately redirected her attention almost entirely to national security after the Orlando incident, holding an event Monday in Cleveland focused exclusively on how to fight the Islamic State and counter radical extremism.
She’ll speak Tuesday afternoon in Pittsburgh before meeting privately with primary rival Sen. Bernard Sanders in Washington on Tuesday evening.
