Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Friday said the shootings in Dallas Thursday, in which five police officers were killed and seven others injured, leaves the city with a surreal feeling that’s the closest in decades to what it experienced after the assassination of former President Kennedy in 1963.
“It does have a very strange feel to it,” Mr. Paxton said on CNN’s “New Day.” “There’s something missing here, obviously where there’s a lot of information we don’t have.”
“Dallas had a tragedy when President Kennedy was shot here in the ’60s, and this is as close to that feeling, I think, as the city’s had in decades,” he said.
“It’s a sad day for Texans; it’s a sad day for [the] Dallas area,” Mr. Paxton said in a separate appearance on “Fox and Friends.” “I just want the families to know that we’re praying for ’em, that we’re going to support ’em, and that we will not forget their fallen heroes.”
