One day before he’s set to take the stage in a concert at Yankee Stadium, country music star Garth Brooks announced he’s coming to New York-based SiriusXM satellite radio in September with his own channel.
“’The Garth Channel’ will be a 24-hour hub for Brooks’ entire catalog, but it will also feature music from his ’heroes and mentors and the new voices that are coming out, who I think are carrying the flag as well,’ ” the Tennessean newspaper reported Thursday, citing Mr. Brooks.
“Some of those ’new voices’ might surprise you,” the Tennessean noted, “including Justin Timberlake, who was thrilled to bring Brooks out as a surprise guest during his 2014 concert in Nashville. Brooks said he’s also a fan of Bruno Mars (’of course’), Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, for starters.”
Mr. Brooks, 54, came out of a 14-year-long retirement in September 2014, launching a world tour and releasing a studio album titled “Man Against Machine” that November.
His concerts with wife and country music artist Trisha Yearwood at Yankee Stadium this Friday and Saturday are part of the ongoing world tour, which also includes four performances later in July in San Antonio and three in Bossier, Louisiana.
