President Obama said Tuesday that he is “taking over” the Instagram account of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton as the two campaign together in North Carolina.
“Hello, Instagram! It’s President Obama. Really!” the president wrote in his first guest post for Mrs. Clinton, accompanied by a photo of the two stepping off Air Force One.
“I’m excited to hit the trail with Hillary today in Charlotte, and I’m taking over her account to share a few thoughts with you about the stakes in this race, and why I think she’d make a great president,” Mr. Obama wrote. “So I hope you’ll follow along. I’m feeling pretty fired up. -bo”
The post garnered more than 34,000 likes in an hour. The president is expected to continue posting to Mrs. Clinton’s account throughout the day.
Mr. Obama hit the campaign trail for Mrs. Clinton in Charlotte Tuesday, saying his former 2008 rival is prepared to succeed him as president.
It came on the same day the FBI said it would not recommend criminal charges in connection with the former secretary of state’s use of a private email server.
