Sherrod Brown, Ohio senator: Enough about Clinton’s emails, let’s talk about Trump’s suits

Sen. Sherrod Brown said Sunday that he’s not worried about presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton being indicted over her exclusive use of private email at the State Department and that, if anything, she’s been more forthcoming than her Republican counterpart, Donald Trump.

The Ohio Democrat tried to deflect attention from Mrs. Clinton one day after the former secretary of state submitted to a three-hour interview with the FBI, which is trying to determine if her unique server arrangement broke the law.

“I think what the story is missing is all that we don’t know about Donald Trump,” Mr. Brown told ABC’s “This Week.” “He won’t release his taxes. We don’t have his real health care records. He hasn’t filled in any of the blanks in what he’s going to do. We see every week or two, we see another story of a small business that went out of business because Donald Trump.”

Mr. Brown said it was “unfortunate” that former President Bill Clinton held a brief meeting last week with Attorney General Loretta Lynch at the Phoenix airport, since the probe into his wife’s emails is ongoing.

But he also said Mrs. Clinton had released “more pages of emails and more records than any of her predecessors of secretary of state,” so it was time to needle Mr. Trump over his own dealings.

Mr. Trump has railed against trade agreements that cost American jobs, Mr. Brown charged, but did little to protect those jobs as a businessman.

“The suit I’m wearing was made by union workers six miles from my home in Cleveland where we sit now,” Mr. Brown said. “Donald Trump outsources his ties to China. He outsourced his furniture to Turkey. I know a company in Ohio that could make that furniture in Archibald, Ohio. I know companies in Cleveland that could make the suits and the other things that Donald Trump has outsourced.”
