Rolling Stones recorded a jingle for Rice Krispies; video surfaces more than 50 years later

In 1995, Microsoft famously used the Rolling Stones hit “Start Me Up” for advertisements for its Windows 95 platform. But more than 30 years earlier, front man Mick Jagger belted out a jingle for a cereal millions of folks use to start their mornings.

The Daily Mail reported Tuesday about a black-and-white early 1960s Rice Krispies ad featuring Jagger’s vocals.

“The commercial had a short run on British television in the early 1960s and the jingle was recorded just after the iconic group formed,” the Daily Mail said.

“It is believed Brian Jones, who was an original band member, wrote the short song which includes the lyrics: ’Wake up in the morning there’s a snap around the place,’” the Daily Mail reported.

While largely forgotten over the past 50 years, the Stones’ Rice Krispies jingle was alluded to in an April 2012 episode of AMC’s “Mad Men,” according to zap2it.com.
