PHILADELPHIA — Vice President Joseph R. Biden said he simply knows pro-Bernie Sanders folks who say they can’t vote for Hillary Clinton will ultimately come around.

“I look at you, I [say], ’I know you’re going to go for Hillary,’ ” Mr. Biden said when asked what he’d say to a diehard pro-Sanders holdout. “I just know. Because if you’re as [moral] and centered as you say you are, I know you can’t vote for Trump. I know.”

In the interview for ABC’s “Good Morning America” Wednesday, Mr. Biden also said Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has managed to have some success in playing on the fears of middle class and working class voters.

“I think he has been very successful in playing on their fears, and there’s not been enough focus on playing on their hopes, appealing to their better angels,” Mr. Biden said.
