PHILADELPHIA — Another headache for Democrats: A slew of Hollywood celebrities led by Susan Sarandon has scheduled a press conference to denounce the party’s Bernie bashing.

Ms. Sarandon, along with fellow actors Danny Glover, Rosario Dawson, Shailene Woodley and Kendrick Sampson, are planning to hold a news conference Wednesday at the press tent outside the Democratic National Convention.

The event is being held in order to “respond to efforts by the Democratic National Committee to silence” former Ohio state Sen. Nina Turner, a leading surrogate for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

“Turner has also been a sharp critic of DNC interference in the primary process, as has been well documented in the recent e-mail leaks,” said the press release by National Nurses United, a pro-Sanders group.

Ms. Turner has reportedly been involved in a spat with the DNC over her credentials.

Also slated to attend are anti-fracking filmmaker Josh Fox and Portia Boulger, founder of Women for Bernie.

The press conference comes amid protests and a walk-out by Sanders supporters at the Democratic National Convention, spurred in part by emails showing that party officials attempted to tip the scales in favor of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
