More Americans tuned in to watch the first two nights of the Democratic convention in Philadelphia than did the first two nights of the GOP’s gathering last week in Cleveland, Variety magazine reported Wednesday.
On the big three broadcast networks alone, 11.4 million tuned in Tuesday night for former President Bill Clinton’s speech, compared to just 10.1 million who watched the second night of the Republican convention on either ABC, CBS or NBC, according to Variety.
Democrats also did better Tuesday among 18-to-49-year-old viewers than Republicans had a week earlier, the magazine reported.
For first-night comparisons, the DNC convention drew 10.54 million total viewers and a 2.5 demo rating for the 18-49-year-old demographic, while the RNC scored 10.1 million total and a 2.3 demo rating, Variety reported.
