The Senate Republicans’ campaign committee called on Democrats Monday to deny a prime speaking slot to a Senate candidate who called her incumbent opponent “an —-hole.”

Katie McGinty, the Democratic challenger to Republican Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, chuckled at a rally Monday as she repeated a line from Communications Workers of America President Chris Shelton.

“I’m going to borrow from Chris: Pat Toomey, he’s an —-hole, dammit,” Ms. McGinty said, laughing.

The National Republican Senate Committee said Ms. McGinty should be pulled from her slot as a scheduled speaker Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention. The NRSC noted that Hillary Clinton is currently running a TV ad that criticizes Republican nominee Donald Trump for using profanity in public.

“Do national Democrats condone this type of language and name-calling?” the NRSC asked.
